Prayers Needed for Sr. Goretti

Sr. Maria Goretti

Your prayers are kindly requested for Sr. Maria Goretti who is very ill and in the hospital.  Sr. Goretti teaches at St. Anne's Academy.  Recently, Sister was stricken with Guillain Bare Syndrome and is in ICU at a local hospital.  Her condition, while serious, is one that we are hopeful and confident from which she will soon recover.

Sister was taken to the hospital on Sunday, September 12 after a bout with the flu.  She was admitted that same day and diagnosed with Guillain Bare Syndrome and is currently being treated for it.  Due to the seriousness of her illness, she received the Last Rites of the Church.

Many of you have inquired about her well being and we thought it best to update you here on our church web site

We are most grateful that the doctors diagnosed her illness quickly and the she has received treatment for this disorder in its early stages. Sister is in good spirits and the good Sisters of the Daughers of Mary Mother of Our Savior are at her bedside praying and consoling her.

Please pray for her quick recovery

Update Septermber 23.

Sister is still in the hospital, but she is doing much better.  We thank you all for your prayers and do ask you to please continue to pray for her. Sister would like to thank all of your for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Update October 22.

Sister is still in the hospital.  She is doing much better and her recovery is progressing steadily.  Sister is now off her respirator and is able to breathe on her own.  In fact, she is able to speak quite well now and is able to be placed in a wheel chair and taken outside for an hour or so to get some fresh air.  She does receive physical therapy every day and is even able to eat some pureed food.  It should not be long before she will be able to tolerate regular food.

Sister did receive Holy Communion for the first time today since her ordeal began on September 12.  Please continue to pray for her.

Update January 7.

Currently, Sister Goretti  is in a transitional care unit.  There has been significant improvement in the health of Sister.  She receives physical therapy twice a day and is now able to stand and even walk with the help of her therapists.  In fact, she was allowed to visit the convent at St. Anne’s on Christmas Day and attend Mass.  She was most grateful to spend some time with the other Sisters.  It was the first time she has been home since her ordeal began in September.

Most likely, it will take several more months before she is fully recovered, but she wishes to express her thanks to everyone for their prayers and does ask that you continue to pray for her.  It is very much appreciated.

Update June 11.

Sister was discharged from the hospital on March 17.  She is back at the convent at St. Anne's Church and is doing very well.  The doctors are amazed are her recovery.  She would like to thank all of you for your prayers and sacrifices for her.  It is very much appreciated.

Sister has resumed some of her duties at the convent and school.  She uses a cane now to help her walk.  The doctors tell her that she should fully recover in a a few short months.
